Today marks the 30th anniversary of the death of legendary Beatle and activist John Lennon. To honor his memory and passion for music, his wife Yoko Ono established the John Lennon Scholarship Program in 1997 through the BMI Foundation.

The program typically awards three scholarships: one for $10K and two for $5K. Songwriters and composers ages of 15 – 24 from select colleges and universities are eligible to apply, but applicants must not have had any work professionally recorded or distributed.
