University of Nevada – Las Vegas (UNLV)

Brief Description: Public research institution with an undergraduate student body of around 22,000 located in the urban tourist mecca of Las Vegas, Nevada.  

High Honors: UNLV ranked on U.S. News and World Report’s 2012 list of Most Popular National Universities and received strong marks for its creative writing, architecture, and environmental studies programs.
Humble Beginnings: UNLV began as an extension of the University of Nevada – Reno, holding its first college level course in 1951 in a dressing room at a Las Vegas high school. It wasn't until 1957 that students were able to attend classes on UNLV's new campus.
Fun Fact: Notable alumni include Food Network host Guy Fieri, ESPN broadcaster Kenny Mayne and many big wigs in the hotel and casino industry.
