enrollment of just under 42,000 nestled not far from the vibrant riverfront
area of Cincinnati, Ohio.

High Honors: The Princeton
Review
has named UC as one of the country’s top green universities and its
campus, consisting of 117 buildings on 473 acres, has also been recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the most beautiful
campuses in the world.

The Common App: UC’s Office of Admissions announced this month
that it will change the application process for incoming freshman for 2013 as
the university joins the Common Application, which incorporates a more holistic
review process for applicants.

Fun Fact: Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund, actress and
fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker and Chicago Cubs center fielder Tony Campana
are just a few of the many famous Bearcat alumni.

 

William Marsh Rice University 
Rice

Brief Description: Generally referred to as Rice University, this small,
private research university is located in Houston, Texas – the USA’s fourth
largest city.  

High Honors: In addition to high marks for student happiness and
quality of life, Rice is consistently ranked among the top 20 national universities
and universities for Hispanic students.

Party of the Century: This month, Rice is celebrating its 100th
anniversary with an array of special events, including a black tie gala, sound
and light shows, walking tours, musical performances and much more.

Fun Fact: Rice recently announced it will provide five free online
courses to people worldwide via the education platform, Coursera.org. Rice is
one of only 16 prestigious universities to partner with Coursera.
