Today we honor civil rights leader Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. and draw attention once again to the immense impact he had on the political, educational and social climate in which we live. The federal holiday to honor King was first enacted in 1986, making this year's holiday and national day of service a 25th anniversary celebration as well. Each year, thousands of colleges, universities and nonprofit organizations across the country sponsor scholarship programs in honor of MLK and his commitment to helping future generations prosper.
You probably all recognize these words from MLK's famous speech, "I have a dream…."
