American Occupational Therapy Foundation Partners With ISTS To Administer Member Scholarship Program

Scholarships support student members pursuing careers in Occupational Therapy

Nashville, TN (VOCUS/PRWeb) August 17, 2011

After years of internal program management, The American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) recently selected International Scholarship and Tuition Services, Inc. (ISTS) to develop an online application and process applicant submissions for the AOTF Scholarship Program. ISTS will also conduct a preliminary round of selection; however, the Foundation will determine the final scholarship recipients and disburse scholarship funds.

The AOTF Scholarship Program – the Foundation’s oldest program – has been available since the Foundation’s establishment in 1965. By forging partnerships with state associations in the 1980s, AOTF was able to expand their program by increasing the number of scholarships they award each year. The program now encompasses Post-baccalaureate and Occupational Therapy assistant scholarships offered by both AOTF and 22 state occupational therapy associations.

“AOTF is pleased to be working with ISTS to assist with administering our scholarship program,” said Charles Christiansen, Executive Director of AOTF. “We believe this partnership will help us sustain our commitment to donors and scholarship applicants to offer a dependable, efficient online process.”

For 2012-2013, the program will award more than fifty scholarships, ranging from $150 to $5,000, to AOTF student members enrolled full-time in an accredited Occupational Therapy educational program.

Beginning September 15, eligible students may apply for all scholarships available from AOTF by completing a general online application accessible through the Foundation’s website. Applicants are considered for all scholarships for which they qualify but may only receive one AOTF scholarship per year.

Following the program’s deadline on December 4, 2011, a selection committee comprised of volunteer occupational therapists and educators will review all applications and make recipient recommendations to the Foundation. Applicants who meet eligibility requirements will be evaluated based on criteria including academic achievement, letters of reference and volunteer experience relevant to a career in Occupational Therapy.
