The College of William and Mary

Brief description: Historic downtown Williamsburg, Virginia is home to The College of William and Mary, a public research college with less than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. William and Mary is the second oldest college in the United States and the first college to adopt an Honor Code.

High Honors: In addition to being one of only eight “Public Ivy” schools – state-assisted institutions that provide a superior educational experience at a much cheaper price tag than Ivy League schools – William and Mary is consistently named a “Best Value” college by publications like the Princeton Review.

A Campus of Volunteers: The spirit of giving back is embodied by students at William & Mary – the college is a major producer of Peace Corps volunteers, exhibiting a rate of one volunteer for every 142 undergraduate students.

Fun Fact: Famous William and Mary alumni include George Washington, The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart and Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
